About Us

Patrice

PatriceAllow me to share my thoughts and feelings about my glorious future wife.
From the first time I heard her beautiful voice back in two thousand and nine, Patrice has proved herself to be a lady with a fantastic personality, and a character which grows lovelier every day.
Patrice is definitely a "count your blessings " lady, who always sees her glass as half full.
Patrice has a strong zest for life, which means she loves to spend her time attending concerts, taking scenic walks, dancing, travelling, exploring, and experiencing local food and culture. Patrice makes friends very easily, is a good listener, and gives sound advice and encouragement, making her my perfect "go to girl" when I need help and support.
A warning to all untidy people! Patrice's home is a no mess zone. The fact that she manages to keep a "spic and span" home while sharing with two mature children, not to mention my additional mess making ability, is testimony to her organisational skills and patience.
Patrice's artistic nature comes out when she paints her abstract pieces of artwork. She has the most eclectic taste in music, which you will discover if you ever get the chance to visit her itunes folder! When in her own zone, she will sing along out loud with the best of them, and lucky me I get to hear her! She loves to read (The Help and The Color Purple are two of her favourites).
Unlike many females, Patrice embraces the geek in me, and tolerates my love of Star Trek, techy pursuits, and superheroes! Since we have been together, I have somehow managed to convert her into a fully gadgeted girl. I get to play my boys toys with Patrice as my partner, and she has a profile name to die for in our Mass Effect 3 game! You will have to take my word for it, as she will kill me if I share it with you !!!
I adore her, and feel so lucky to have her as my fiancée and soul mate. For me, our wedding cannot come quick enough.

Philip

PhilipWhat can I say about my beloved Fiancé Phil, the original Inspector Gadget! Mr Positivity! My special guy! He is insanely energetic, loves to dance and has a personal DVD collection that could rival Blockbusters!
He's simply wonderful! Super kind, with a heart the size of a house, Phil will go out of his way to help anyone who needs it. Wherever I am, he will always come and pick me up. Family is very important to him and he is a loyal and reliable friend.
Phil is always up for spontaneous fun and takes great delight in laughing at his own very corny jokes. It's pretty hard to be bored in his company. He'll find a way to entertain you with a random game, or even a magic trick!
A people person to the core, Phil is insanely organised, as anyone who has been in his van can testify! Whether you need a painkiller, a screwdriver, or a portable wine glass, Phil's your man.
Born on Valentines Day, Phil is ridiculously romantic (see The Proposal), always puts me first and somehow manages to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world, even when I'm driving him nuts with my OCD and freaky neatness!!! It takes a very special bloke to put up with me when I'm in super psycho tidy up mode! However bad a day I've had, however grumpy I may feel, Phil will always lift me up and make me smile.
Ever since that first telephone conversation, Phil has consistently been a fantastic person to spend time with, and together we've shared some pretty spectacular adventures.
In short, Phil is my total package and the love of my life. I cannot wait to be his wife.

How we met...

Patrice and I met through Match.com.
The very first time I spoke to her on the phone, it transpired that we lived literally 6 minutes drive from each other! It had to be fate right? She went to great lengths to inform me that she was about to cancel her membership, as the guys she had met so far were not her type. Well.... after over an hour of her trying to put me off, I pointed out that I must be saying something right as we were still on the phone! She conceded, we had our first date the very next day, and the rest as they say, is history.

The proposal...

I see Patrice as my natural wonder, so it made sense to propose to her over another natural wonder, so I asked her to marry me whilst we were flying over the Grand Canyon.

The hiccups along the way were:

a) The Grand Canyon trip was one of the last things we did on a two week vacation, so I had to hide her ring and keep it safe everywhere we went;
b) I had to memorise a poem that I wanted to recite to her as part of my proposal, but the places we visited along the way, coupled with the activities we undertook, were so distracting;
c) We only had one argument throughout the entire trip, and it just happened to be the night before I planned to propose to Patrice. As you can imagine, I was now afraid that she would say no!

The last hurdle was a thunderstorm which closed in on our Grand Canyon flight as we arrived at the airport, almost causing it to be cancelled.

Despite all this we eventually took off albeit late, the pilot detoured so we could spend more time over the canyon and interrupted the audio guide, I managed to convince Patrice to remove her headphones, I remembered my poem, asked her to marry me, and best of all she eventually said yes, once she sussed what was happening and had stopped repeatedly screaming "Oh My God" !!

I thought you might like to read the poem:

If ever two were one, then surely we.

If ever man were loved by wife, then thee.

If ever wife was happy in man,

Compare with me, ye women, if you can.

I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,

Or all the riches that the East doth hold.

My love is such that rivers cannot quench,

Nor ought but love from thee give recompence.

Thy love is such that I can no way repay,

The heavens reward thee manifold I pray.

Then while we live, in love let's so persevere,

That when we live no more, we may live ever.
